so, this rain is not normal.

This is about 4 miles south of our apartment.

It’s been raining here for what seems like months.  Basically, every day.  It feels a lot like Seattle.  I asked a delivery person on Saturday–“Is this normal?”  She said, “No–not at all.”

I’ve heard rumblings off and on about the reservoir.  But this week, things got way worse as it overflowed.  We have been under a flash flood warning for the last two days.

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last few days and that plus already high levels meant the river that goes through San Jose couldn’t handle it.  Our neighborhood is (thankfully) mostly normal with some standing water here and there. We have had some flickering lights, but no outages. People who live in single dwelling homes on the other side of our neighborhood are having issues with trees taking down power lines. Which is taking days to fix due to the rest of the crazy happening in the city.  Thankfully, we live near the main drag for our neighborhood, in a new building, so we aren’t seeing any issues.

The saddest part is that the neighborhoods affected most are also the most economically stifled in our city.  It’s already such a hard road for them just to live here.  Sending good vibes, prayers, and a whole lot of sunshine to those affected. It’s got to be so devastating and scary.
